Their story unfolded within the confines of the Women’s Big Bash League quarantine 'hub' at the Novotel in Sydney Olympic Park, back in October 2020.

Locked away for eight weeks alongside eight teams, Emily and Patrick’s paths inevitably crossed in the shared dining area.

As the weeks progressed, Emily assumed the role of media manager for the Melbourne Renegades. Seeking guidance, she turned to Patrick, unaware that he was navigating the same role with little expertise. A casual stroll through Bicentennial Park during the second week marked their unofficial first date, igniting a flame that would flourish into a 10-day getaway once the WBBL season concluded.

Emily's bold move to Perth in the New Year, quitting her job and relinquishing her lease, epitomized her leap of faith into a coastal life in Cottesloe, alongside someone she had known for only three months.

​

Her courage ushered in a remarkable 18 months on the west coast, brimming with new experiences, sun-soaked days, and occasional visits to the local pub.

Amidst job changes, they transitioned to the Gold Coast via Melbourne, where they continue to relish in their shared passions - cycling along the coastline, basking in beach days, and indulging in a refreshing pint when the occasion calls.

A heartwarming Christmas Eve proposal in 2022, surrounded by their families in Queensland, marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter as they stepped into 2023 together.
